The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging (WIAAA) will
be releasing a competitive request for proposal on April 4, 2008 for Title III
services, under the Older Americans Act. Funds will be made available for
transportation, legal, congregate and home delivered meals to be furnished in
one or more of the following counties: Bureau, Henderson, Henry, Knox,
LaSalle, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, and Warren. We will also be
issuing a non-competitive request for proposal for respite services (in-home,
adult day care, or institutional service).
All successful applicants will begin service October 1,
2008 and must be legally incorporated or affiliated with an institution of
higher education or be a government entity. They must also furnish the
services according to federal, state and area agency guidelines and standards.
Completed applications will be due at the WIAAA office
on May 16, 2008. Interested persons should contact the WIAAA as soon as
possible at (309)793-6800 and state the service or services for which you are
seeking funds. In addition, all applicants will be encouraged to attend a
grant writing training to be held at Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging,
729 34th Avenue, Rock Island, IL on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at
10:00 a.m.
The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a
non-profit corporation created for the purpose of improving the quality of
life for older Americans. The specific objectives of the agency are threefold:
to enable older adults to live in their own homes as long as possible with
appropriate supportive services; to remove individual and social barriers to
economic and personal independence for older persons including the provision
of opportunities for employment and volunteer activities; and to act as an
advocate for older persons in developing community resources for the aged
throughout the ten county area while providing a comprehensive service
network. Counties included in the agency’s jurisdiction are Bureau,
Henderson, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, and
