of 2005 needs assessment findings.
Purpose of This Needs Assessment
To assist in ascertaining the
most common point of entry into the aging network by seniors
currently utilizing community services.
Assess how many seniors are currently aware of the Medicare Modernization
Act and the Medicare Part D Prescription
Drug Coverage.
Assess if seniors would participate in a group educational session about
Medicare Part D.
This survey was conducted in November and December of 2004 and January of
2005. The surveys were mailed to the 11
Community Focal Points throughout our 10 county program
and service area. Staff members at the 11 Community Focal Points in WIAAA’s
10 county program and service area completed the surveys. A total of 354 seniors
were surveyed who had contact with the community focal points during the survey
period.

of 2004 needs assessment findings.
In
preparation for the 2005-2007 Area Plan, WIAAA conducted a needs assessment
survey-
WIAAA-Funded Providers’ Current & Possible Future Utilization of
Volunteers
- The assessment revealed a need for assistance in utilizing volunteers to
alleviate the difficulties created by insufficient resources. This needs
assessment was developed and distributed as the first step in the process of
addressing one of the WIAAA Area Plan initiatives. WIAAA, in collaboration with
the WIAAA-sponsored Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), surveyed 37
WIAAA- funded providers (100%) regarding their current utilization of volunteers
in WIAAA-funded activities, their plans for possible future utilization of
volunteers, and their assessment of ways in which the WIAAA-sponsored RSVP could
be helpful to them.
In 2003 a needs assessment was conducted to determine
gaps in service for caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren. The
results of this assessment were presented to the Advisory Council and Board of
Directors in January, 2003 for their use in directing the development of the
2004 amendment to the 2002-2004 area plan.
Summary
of 2003 needs assessment findings.
A 2001 needs assessment was completed and the data
analyzed. The results were presented to the Advisory Council and Board of
Directors in January, 2001 for their use in directing the development of
2002-2004 area plan.
This assessment, while not statistically accurate because of the
small sample size and lack of random selection, will nonetheless be of
assistance to our agency in developing an integrated system of information
dissemination and other services for caregivers in the 10-county area we
serve.
