Issues - What You'll Find Here

WIAAA believes communication is one of the primary keys to appropriate services to older Americans.  We believe older Americans know their own needs. And we believe they understand that actions taken at all levels of government affect what services are available and how they are delivered.

Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging advocates for seniors at the local, state and federal level of government. Through various venues we identify legislation that is pending that may effect older adults. We contact legislators at the state and federal level to provide them with input on how the pending legislation will impact the older adults in our 10 county planning and service area.

To impact governmental decision making everyone has the responsibility of informing and educating their legislator. Advocacy is a way to accomplish this. This page will give you some useful links and information about legislation that is being proposed at the state and federal levels of government. Please voice your concerns and opinions about pending legislation to your elected officials and become part of the decision making process. Together we can make a difference!
