                                            Advocacy

Advocating on behalf of older adults is one of Western Illinois Area Agency's most important jobs. WIAAA advocates for seniors to receive the best possible services to lead meaningful, independent, and dignified lives. We advocate in several ways:

Community Input Meetings are held each year to encourage individuals to share their views on senior services needs in their communities.

Formal Public Hearings are held each year to obtain public comment on Western Illinois Area Agency’s Area Plan. Information on the Area Plan can be found in the Public Information Document (PID).

Through the Senior Medicare Patrol, WIAAA empowers consumers to prevent healthcare fraud.

WIAAA staff regularly advocate on behalf of seniors by corresponding with legislators in our 10 county area. You are encouraged to share your opinions and concerns on senior services with your legislators. Click here to find your legislators.
