          WIAAA: FirstStop for Seniors

The Greta J. Brooks Elderly Learning and Living Facility (ELLF)

The Greta J. Brooks Elderly Learning and Living Facility (ELLF) is located in the same building as WIAAA and is open daily 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

The facility is a special interest gerontology library  with a wide selection of materials of interest to seniors and caregivers, including books and videos.

Additionally, special computer classes for seniors  are offered on Tuesdays:
  10:00 - noon p.m.
    1:00 -  3:00 p.m.

The classes are held in The Senior Computer Center, located at the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging, 729 34th Avenue, Rock Island, is open to all seniors in the Quad City area

The Senior Computer Center (SCC) has nine computer work stations – one with a lap top computer. All computers are Internet accessible.

Cost of the classes is $5.00 for one month. Classes are taught by volunteers from the area. Learners will have the opportunity to learn word processing, graphics, spread sheets, and you will also learn to surf the Web. Bring email addresses with you so you can email a friend.

The SCC was established to help seniors gain knowledge and confidence in working with computers. As participants learn skills, they may feel more comfortable in attending a computer class at one of the local colleges.

The Senior Computer Center is handicapped accessible. If you would like to attend classes, call 793-6800 or send an e mail to www.wiaaa.org.
