The specific objectives of the agency are threefold: to enable older adults to live in their own homes as long as possible with appropriate supportive services; to remove individual and social barriers to economic and personal independence for older persons including the provision of opportunities for employment and volunteer activities; and to act as an advocate for older persons in developing community resources for the aged throughout the ten county area while providing a comprehensive service network. Counties included in the agency’s jurisdiction are Bureau, Henderson, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, and Warren. E.O.E.

The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a planning and funding agency for senior programs in Western Illinois. We have sponsored training conferences for over 30+ years to countless workers in the field of aging. Through these conferences, we have provided a learning experience for staff of our funded provider agencies, as well as other workers in the field of aging, to remain up-to-date on developments that affect the older population.
