Approximately 200 aging network professionals and 53 seniors attended Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging’s 2004 Annual Conference held September 23, 2004 at The Mark of the Quad Cities. The conference opened with a welcome from Greta Brooks, Executive Director of Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging.

2004 Annual Conference at The Mark

Among the day’s highlights was Sara Sanders from University of Iowa, faculty member of the School of Social Work, who presented the opening session on "Caregivers Across the Generations". This session gave an overview of male caregivers. Dr. Nicholas Shammas, founder and president of Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation presented on "Fighting Heart and Blood Vessel Disease…and Winning". Each participant of the conference also received a copy of Dr. Shammas’ book Learn About Your Heart. . . Made Simple.

Participants could choose between twelve breakout sessions on a variety of subjects. 53 seniors joined our afternoon sessions "Workshops At The Mark". The halls were lined with vendor displays for the participants to enjoy between sessions. Some comments made by participants: "excellent key note speaker", "always enjoy coming to this conference", "good variety of sessions" and "great vendor displays.
